Hatzivasileiou met the political leadership, business people and industrial associations in Cyprus

Deputy Foreign Minister Tasos Hatzivasileiou had meetings with the political leadership of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as contacts with business people and the industrial and trade associations of Cyprus. Hatzivasileiou visited Cyprus on March 11-12, 2025, together with the foreign affairs ministry's General Secretary for International Economic Affairs Dimitris Skalkos.
On Tuesday, Hatzivasileiou was received by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. During the meeting, the close relations between Greece and Cyprus and all issues of common and regional interest were discussed. The excellent trade relations between the two countries were also highlighted, as Cyprus is the 3rd largest destination for Greek exports.
On Wednesday, March 12, Hatzivasileiou met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus and President of the Democratic Rally, Annita Demetriou.
The deputy minister also met with the Cyprus Foreign Affairs Minister Constantinos Kombos and the Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Rauna. The meetings highlighted the close ties that connect Greece and Cyprus and confirmed the common goals for regional stability and prosperity.
On the same day, the minister and general secretary also addressed the Greece-Cyprus Business Forum. The business meeting was attended by representatives of industry associations and entrepreneurs active in the sectors of construction and infrastructure, information systems, energy, food, tourism, security and defence.
In his greeting, Hatzivasileiou stated that the two countries are pillars of stability, democracy, prosperity and security in the Southeastern Mediterranean and function as a connecting link between Europe and Asia, West and East. The deputy minister expressed hope that the business meeting would open up new channels of communication and cooperation, which will lead to a more competitive and sustainable economy for Greece, Cyprus and the wider region.
