Digital map tracking road accidents to soon begin operating, Kyranakis tells ANA-MPA

A digital map tracking road accidents, initially for all neighbourhoods in Attica and them extended to the entire country, will soon begin to operate, Deputy Digital Governance Minister Konstantinos Kyranakis said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Wednesday, during the local government exhibition OTA Expo 2025.
"In the next few days, a road map of road accidents will begin. It is an open tool accessible to all citizens, in which you can seek at each location, for each neighbourhood in Attica initially and then throughout all of Greece, the number of road accidents. At each point in each neighbourhood. In this way, municipalities will be able to potentially track accumulated accidents on a particular road and make changes, whether bigger or smaller, in order to fix whatever problems there may be," Kyranakis said.
Earlier, during his speech, the deputy minister outlined the content of this map, such as the precise locations and attributed causes of accidents, which will permit local authorities to make changes that will prevent similar accidents in the future.
"The aim is for local residents to participate in improving daily life," he added.
