Tsiaras opens Food Expo 2025 exhibition, highlighting its importance for Greek primary production

Rural Development and Foods Minister Kostas Tsiaras on Saturday inaugurated the foods and beverages exhibition Food Expo 2025, considered one of the top exhibitions for the sector in Southeastern Europe, stressing its importance for Greek agricultural production.
In his speech, he said that the Food Expo helped to promote high-quality Greek products in international markets and showcased their comparative advantages.
Tsiaras spoke about the government actions to support primary production and entrepreneurship, saying there had been a "systematic effort to create conditions of resilience in a truly crtitical time, in which climate change has caused many problems and concerns."
He also stressed the need to support farmer through European financing tools that support processing and modernisation, as well as through action to reduce production costs. He also pointed to an impressive increase in exports of fruits and vegetables from Greece, which had risen from 2.2 billion euros in 2019 to 3.2 billion euros in 2023.
Before opening the exhibition, Tsiaras visited the stalls and spoke with farmers and entrepreneurs, learning about the latest innovations and trends in the agrifood sector and discussing the challenges and opportunities for Greek products in international markets.
