Athens Christmas tree to be lit in Syntagma Square at 18:00

The City of Athens Christmas tree will be lit in Syntagma Square on Thursday at 18:00, launching a series of festive events in the Greek capital.
The 20-metre tree arrived in Athens last week, late on Thursday night, and its decoration began immediately. It will be lit by the mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, at an event that will feature presenters Nancy Zambetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos and Christmas melodies with Nefeli Fasouli and the Athens Big Band. The festive lighting event will be open to everyone, as it will also be presented in Greek sign language by Polyvios Kosmatos.
"This Christmas in Athens will be like a fairy tale. A great celebration will begin in the heart of the city. Neighbourhoods of Athens, as well as emblematic landmarks, are illuminated for the first time. Colorful LED lights, low consumption, ornaments made from recycled materials will bring the magic of the holidays, with respect for the environment," Haris Doukas said and added: "We are waiting for you on Thursday, November 28 at Syntagma Square, to mark the beginning of the Christmas festivities together with music and songs."
