Olympic Flame arrives at Marseille for Paris Olympic Games

After sailing for 12 days in the Mediterranean Sea, the Olympic flame that was lit in Ancient Olympia on April 16 reached the port of Marseille on Wednesday, carried by the three-masted sailing ship "Belem", which was built in 1896, the year that the first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens.
French President Emmanuel Macron will witness the delivery of the Olympic Flame to the torch-bearers for a torch relay whose final destination is the French capital Paris, where it is due to arrive on July 26 for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games.
The arrival of the Olympic Flame in Marseille was expected to be broadcast live throughout the world.
A total of 1.0 billion people are expected to watch the arrival of the flame live on television, while 150,000 people were estimated to gather at the port to welcome its arrival.
