Former king Constantine to be buried as a private citizen

A meeting took place at the Maximos Mansion on Wednesday to decide on the funeral rites for Greece's former king, Constantine II.

The former monarch is to be buried as a private citizen, near his ancestors in Tatoi. This was decided at an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Specifically, the meeting made the following decisions:

- The former king will be buried as a private citizen,

- His burial site will be near to that of his ancestors in Tatoi,

- The church where the funeral service will be held will be decided in consultation between the government and the family,

- The government will be represented at the funeral by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Lina Mendoni,

- All procedures envisaged by the protocol for visiting officials and dignitaries from abroad will be observed for those who attend the funeral.
