Metro AEBE to invest more than 40 million euros in 2020

Metro AEBE, a Greek supermarket group operating the My market and the Metro Cash & Carry networks, records a 5.0 pct increase in sales this year compared with the previous year, Aristotelis Panteliadis, the company's CEO told ANA-MPA.
He said that both categories of stores, retail and wholesale, are recording the same growth rate so far this year and significantly raise their market shares. The company operates 50 Metro Cash & Carry stores and 225 My market stores.
Panteliadis said that: "everything leads to an estimate that profitability for both chains will rise significantly in 2019 compared with the previous year," and added that Metro AEBE will invest more than 40 million euros in 2020 to open severan new stores and begin works to expand a distribution center in Thessaloniki.
Metro AEBE will launch operations of its first stores outside Greece, a Cash & Carry store in Limasol, an investment of 10 million euros. Metro AEBE has a workforce of 10,911 in Greece, one of the largest employers in the country.
