The award-winning photographs of the 1st Photo Marathon of Hope against Cancer in an exhibition in the heart of Athens
The Arts in Health Hub "Eyes of Light", true to its vision of improving the quality of life of cancer patients, launches an exhibition of special significance. From 16 to 24 October 2024 at the TAF - The Art Foundation cultural space, the award-winning photographs of the 1st Click for Life Photo Marathon of Hope will be presented.
The 1st Photo Marathon of Hope against Cancer
On the occasion of World Cancer Day on 4 February, the organization initiated a pioneering campaign to raise awareness through photography, which was held under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens, Greek Patients Association, the Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELLOK), and the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO).
The initiative brought together more than 500 photography lovers and experts, from 60 locations in Greece and 3 cities abroad, who joined forces to send a strong message of hope and support to all those battling cancer. At the same time, in Athens and Thessaloniki, 7 group photo walks were held, with the participation of 100 people, under the guidance of renowned photographers.
A total of 1.230 photographs were collected and competed in 5 categories, inspired by testimonials from people with cancer who participated in Eyes of Light's award-winning therapeutic photography workshops. The great response from the public was truly moving and highlighted the Eyes of Light initiative as a notably successful, nationwide movement of solidarity through art.
The Click for Life exhibition
From 16 to 24 October 2024, at the cultural space TAF - The Art Foundation, the exhibition Click for Life will be held, giving the public the opportunity to admire the prize-winning photographs and actively participate in an interactive photographic project, specially designed for the exhibition. In addition, a parallel programme of events dedicated to the Eyes of Light community and to those who would like to get to know its work will take place.
The exhibition and its side programme create an open platform for artistic expression with social awareness. They aim to fight the cancer-related stigma and strengthen the social connection between patients and non-patients. Moreover, this creative encounter with the public completes the actions of the 1st Photo Marathon of Hope against Cancer, renewing the appointment for the next one, which will take place in early 2025.

The exhibition organizer
Eyes of Light is a pioneering non-profit organization working in the field of Arts in Health since 2019, with free psychosocial support programs for people with cancer, focusing on empowerment, wellness and extroversion. Its activities include participatory art projects, exhibitions and awareness campaigns, museum tours, and innovative, internationally award-winning therapeutic photography workshops.
