Tourism Min. Kountoura receives WTTC's Global Champion 2019 award

Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura was awarded the Global Champion 2019 prize at the World WTTC Conference for her work on tourism and the success of the Greek tourist strategy, at an event in Seville, Spain.
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) represents internationally the private sector of global tourism and rewards ministers and governments for their work and their policy in the development of the world travel-tourism market.
In particular, Kountoura was honoured for her successful strategy that has turned Greece into a top global destination for tourism 365 days a year, expanding the tourist season, developing new thematic tourism products and dynamically promoting new Greek destinations.
The prize was awarded to Kountoura by the WTTC President and Managing Director Gloria Guevara, and the Hilton Group president and managing director Chris Nassetta.
The Minister stated for her award: "The WTTC Global Champion Award is a huge recognition for our government and for what we have achieved over the last four years with our strategy and our work in Greek tourism. This new distinction belongs to all the professionals not only in tourism but also in all other sectors: to all those who work hard and do their best so that our country stands out and is renowned internationally for its high level of hospitality, and which has become a top choice in the preferences of the international travel community. This distinction is Greece's success, it is a success of all Greeks."
