Fourlis Group reports improved first quarter results

Fourlis Group on Tuesday said its first quarter sales totaled 96.2 million euros, from 89.1 million euros in the same period last year, for an increase of 8.0 pct.

Consolidated EBITDA rose 28.1 pct to 3.6 million euros in the January-March period, while pre-tax losses fell to 3.0 million euros from 4.1 million in the first quarter of 2017. Losses after tax and minorities fell to 2.3 million euros from 3.3 million in 2017.

The IKEA business reported sales of 61.9 million euros in the first three months of 2018, up 8.4 pct from the same period last year (57.1 million). Sales in Greece grew 6.2 pct and sales abroad rose 12.7 pct. EBITDA rose to 2.8 million euros (1.9 million in 2017) and pre-tax losses fell to 1.2 million euros from 2.3 million last year. Fourlis operates seven IKEA stores, five in Greece, one in Cyprus and one in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Intersport business reported a 7.1 pct increase in first quarter sales to 34.3 million euros. Sales in Greece rose 16.2 pct, while EBITDA and pre-tax losses remained almost unchanged at last year’s levels. EBITDA was 1.0 million euros and pre-tax losses at 1.5 million. Fourlis operates 128 stores (50 in Greece, 29 in Romania, 24 in Turkey, seven in Bulgaria and four in Cyprus). The Athlete’s Foot business operates 12 stores in Greece and two in Turkey.
