The regulation promoted by the health ministry, based on which the specialty and specialization that Greek doctors have received in America will be automatically recognized, paving the way for them to be able to offer their services without any problems in Greece, was discussed with Greek doctors working in the US and their colleagues in Greece, according to a statement from the prime minister's press office.
Specifically, doctors who have acquired a specialty in the US, which has been certified by the competent US body, will be able to recognize their specialty automatically in Greece, by submitting a simple application to the Panhellenic Medical Association. Regarding specialization, recognition will be automatic upon submission of the certificate, as long as the specific specialization officially exists in Greece.
"We decided with the minister and the deputy minister to cut the Gordian knot and bring a provision that automatically recognizes specialty and specialization to those who are certified in the United States by the corresponding bodies, so that we can solve this bureaucratic problem, which I understand is troubling many of you. And of course, with the reasoning that this provision may also help in the repatriation of some Greeks who are in the United States," the prime minister noted.
In fact, the relevant ministerial decision for the recognition of medical qualifications is expected to be signed in the coming days and the legislative regulation for the specialization section is expected to be submitted to Parliament within the week.
