Traffic delays at national roads as Athenians return home from Easter holidays

Holidaymakers returning to Athens from Easter break on Tuesday have met with increased traffic on the Athens-Corinth national highway.
Traffic slowed down from Kinetta to Nea Peramos, while traffic was also backed up at the Elefsina tolls.
Vehicles heading to Athens on the Athens-Lamia highway however are moving along.
According to Traffic Police, a total of 129,624 private cars returned to Attica yesterday (Monday after Easter): 69,400 used the Athens-Corinth highway, and 60,224 returned through the Athens-Lamia one.
In addition, between 06:00 and 18:00 today (Tuesday), a total of 45,756 cars came through the toll stations at Elefsina, and 33,730 through the tolls of Afidnes.
Trucks of over 3.5 tons are forbidden from entering Athens until 23:00 tonight (April 22).
