Bank of Greece: Inbound travel flows rise 5.4% in Jan-Feb 2025

Inbound traveller flows grew by 5.4% in January-February 2025, the Bank of Greece (BoG) said in its report for the first two months of the year, compared to the same two months in 2024.
Specifically, the number of inbound travellers rose by 5.4% to 1.5 million travellers, against 1.54 million travellers in the same period of 2024.
The increase of travellers was accompanied by a 3.9% increase in travel receipts compared to the same two months in 2024, bringing the total receipts for Jan.-Feb. 2025 to 599.3 million euros. This development was due to an increase in receipts from other countries by 16.7% to 310.9 million euros, as receipts from residents of the EU27 countries decreased by 7.3% to 282.2 million euros.
In greater detail, receipts from euro-area residents fell by 2.1% to 240.9 million euros, and receipts from residents of non-euro-area EU27 countries decreased by 29.4% to 41.3 million euros. Specifically, receipts from Germany dropped by 4.0% to 61.1 million euros, and those from France by 44.9% to 18.0 million euros. Receipts from Italy increased by 37.8% to 43.8 million euros.
Turning to other countries, receipts from the United Kingdom increased by 34.3% to 45.5 million euros, while receipts from the United States increased by 51.2% to 88.1 million euros. Lastly, receipts from Russia stood at 1.6 million euros.
