Culture Min Mendoni meets with her Chinese counterpart Sun Yeli, in Beijing

Culture Minister Lina Mendoni held a working meeting with the Culture and Tourism Minister of the People's Republic of China, Sun Yeli, while visiting Beijing, the culture ministry announced on Holy Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the two sides confirmed their excellent cooperation in culture, where ties have been strengthened in recent years, through the exchange and organisation of temporary exhibitions and through cooperation between the museums and research institutions of the two countries.
Sun Yeli stated China's intention to support Greece's candidacy for the listing of the Minoan Palaces of Crete on the UNESCO World Heritage List, recognising the importance of the Minoan Civilization for the heritage of humanity. At the same time, he reiterated his country's firm and continuous support for the Greek request for the reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures in the Acropolis Museum.
Mendoni thanked her counterpart for the long-standing support provided by China on the issue of the reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures, but also for the continuous cooperation between the two countries in combating the illegal trafficking of cultural goods and their return to their countries of origin.
She invited her counterpart to the Forum of Ancient Civilizations, to be held in Athens in December 2025, while Minister Sun Yeli invited Mendoni to the international meeting on the protection of cultural heritage, organised by his ministry in November 2025.
