Androulakis: This year's Easter feast will be the most expensive of all time

"This year things are more difficult than ever because the government did not protect the citizens from profiteering nor producers from the illegal labelling of imported products as Greek," stated main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis after the end of his visit to the Varvakeios Market on Holy Wednesday, where he discussed the cost of the Easter feast with merchants and consumers.
Androulakis stressed that "rules are needed in the market and not lawlessness, which New Democracy allows, serving interests to the detriment of the everyday life and well-being of the Greek people."
According to the government, he noted, the economy is doing well and the difficulties presented by the high cost of living "are behind us", whereas in actual fact, citizens this year would be paying for the most expensive Easter meal of all time, at a time when their purchasing power was the second lowest in the European Union.
"Who will you believe? The propaganda mechanisms or reality?" added Androulakis.
