Europarliament Working Group on RRF absorption funds meeting with officials in Greece

A delegation of the European Parliament is in Athens since Monday to review the country's application of Recovery and Resilience Fund resources.

The visit will conclude on Wednesday after the Working Group's continued meetings with ministers, deputies and audit authorities. They will also continue to visit projects being implemented by the RRF.

At a press conference on Tuesday, the head of the Working Group on the Scrutiny of the RRF Siegfried Mureșan said that one of the reasons the Working Group is visiting is that Greece is receiving more than 35 billion euros through the RRF, with half of these provided as loans (with low interest rates and on favorable terms), and the other half as subsidies.
In addition, he said, Greece is among the first three countries - with Croatia and Italy - in the disbursement of RRF funding, noting that the 5th tranche is already released and the funds "will quickly reach Greece."

Also responding to journalists' questions was Croatian Eurodeputy Karlo Ressler, who added that the Workiing Group focuses on the absorption of funding and the ways in which the member states achieve it, as well as in the effects of those funds in development and reforms.

The delegation includes Greek Eurodeputy Giorgos Aftias, New Democracy deputy and member of the European People's Party.
