The National Defense ministry approved on Holy Tuesday (April 15) the tender for the new customs house on the island of Chios.

New Democracy and Chios Deputy Notis Mitarachi met with National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and Deputy Minister Athanassios Davakis on the project, which will involve the National Defense General Staff Unit of Studies and Construction and funding of 3 million euros by the Migration and Asylum Ministry from the Solidarity Fund (approved in 2021 by then-minister Mitarachi). 

Besides the two ministries above, cooperation agreements have been signed by the Finance Ministry, the Municipality of Chios, and the Public Port Fund of Chios.

Commenting on the developments, Mitarachi said, "The Studies and Construction Unit received the green light to issue a tender for the project. Today's signing is milestone of progress for the Chios we envision."
