CoS cancels fines imposed on ND, upholds those on party officials over leaked emails of Greek voters abroad

The plenary of the Council of State (CoS) cancelled on Tuesday two fines imposed on ruling New Democracy (ND) party over the case of leaked emails of Greek voters abroad involving former ND Deputy Anna-Michele Assimakopoulou, and rejected proposals to annul fines to individual party officers.
Assimakopoulou had used emails from electoral registration lists of Greeks abroad for political promotion, causing protests from abroad. The Data Protection Authority had imposed two fines on ND, of 30,000 euros and 10,000 euros. It had also fined Assimakopoulou, former ND secretary for self-government and handling of crises Aristodimos (Menios) Koromilas, and former ND Secretary for the Diaspora Nikolaos Theodoropoulos 40,000 euros each.
Greece's highest administrative court cancelled the fines on the party but upheld the fines on its three officials, ruling that the individuals' fines were legally imposed.
