'Crime' committed by 'Omada Alithias' website was to show up Left's hypocrisy, Marinakis says

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis on Tuesday accused those attacking the omadaalithias.gr (Truth Group) website of "hypocrisy", in an interview with the ANT1 television network. He pointed out that the website was simply pointing out inconsistencies in the statements made by public figures and parties on various issues. According to Marinakis, "the 'crime' committed by this website was to show up the hypocrisy of the Left."
He said the opposition had "taken posts by anonymous profiles on the internet who were unrelated with 'Omada Alithias'," and attributed them to the website and then proceeded to assert that it "therefore also defends the anonymous profiles on the internet that abuse the relatives of Tempi [train disaster] victims." This, Marinakis added, "beyond being vulgar, beyond being untrue, is also suable," and he noted that the website's managers were within their rights to do so. The spokesperson also stressed that the website had no links to nor did it receive any financing from either New Democracy or the government.
Marinakis repeated that justice was the sole institution entitled to investigate and attribute responsibility for the rail accident in Tempi, accusing the opposition parties of creating a narrative of a cover-up that was now unravelling by "cherry-picking" the evidence to stoke society's justifiable anger over the accident.
On the economic front, he said the government was implementing a series of new tax reductions within 2025 and returning "dividends" to society from the surpluses that being generated, such as the pay rises for the military and other services in uniform, and that the next goal was to support the income of the middle and lower-middle income classes, through tax cuts and other support measures, such as the out-of-court debt settlement mechanism.
He concluded by highlighting a series of reforms carried out by the state in various areas, including digital services, fire season protection, action against crime and protection against domestic violence, adding that the state will work hard to improve trains and make them safer.
"This is our job...when the time of the elections comes around we will be judged on all of these," he added.
