Zacharaki: We are providing choices and more opportunities within public education

Education Minister Sofia Zacharaki on Tuesday said the 25,000 applications submitted for the admission of pupils to the state's Model, Experimental and Public Onassis Schools were a "vote of confidence" in the institution.
Speaking to the public broadcaster ERT on Tuesday, April 15, Zacharaki said: "We are providing more choices within public education. More opportunities everywhere in Greece. The 25,000 applications for Model, Experimental and Public Onassis Schools show that people, families trust the institution. The hard work and effort of students is rewarded."
Ahead of the presentation on Wednesday of the National Strategy for Preventing and Addressing Juvenile Violence and Deliquency, the minister noted that Greece is below the European average in the relevant indicators but stressed that children should feel "that there is strong support, whether they are at school, at home or in the community," adding that parents should be aware of all the resources available to them.
