Some 10,000 teachers to be hired end of August for new academic year, minister says
The next wave of hiring teachers is the end of August 2025, when 10,000 will be assigned to public schools, Education Minister Sofia Zacharaki revealed on Monday.
Specifically, in an interview to online site newsbomb.gr, Zacharaki announced that she has already requested the timely recording of educational needs and vacancies so the coming academic year could start with the best scheduling possible.
Besides the timely hiring of substitute teachers, she said, the 10,000 new postings will be added to the 38,000 teachers already hired in the last few years.
"We will try, in cooperation with our officers, to be prepared," Zacharaki underlined, while she asserted that the schedule for this year's national university entrance exams ('panellinies') will remain as is.
