PASOK's Tsoukalas: New Democracy will not leave by shouts, but by tough opposition

Violence is never the solution to anything and such practices must be unequivocally condemned and isolated, said PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) spokesman Kostas Tsoukalas, speaking on ERTnews on Saturday over the bomb that exploded on Friday night outside the Hellenic Train offices.
Speaking to the national broadcaster, Tsoukalas commented on the tariffs imposed by the US saying that after a debt crisis, the pandemic, and an inflationary crisis "we will experience a self-inflicted economic catastrophe" if they go ahead after the temporary suspension.
The PASOK-KINAL spokesman was asked to comment on current polls that show his party, the main opposition, coming in third after Zoe Konstantopoulou's Plefsi Eleftherias party. He said the party is reviewing the polls, but the party's stance of highlighting social issues and its program will not change.
"It is a decision based on our principles for us not to choose populism as a tool, to clash with both populism and elitism that New Democracy advocates - a policy without any compassion for citizens' needs." He added that the parties like Spartiates and Plefsi Eleftherias did not have a stance on social issues, work issues, or the economy. "We do not believe that New Democracy will leave by shouts, but by a toughly constructed opposition," Tsoukalas said, also criticizing the stance of other opposition parties for walking out of voting for the referral of a former minister to a judicial council over the Tempi collision case.
