Marinakis to ANA-MPA: In a period of unpredictable and significant risks, it is crucial to protect the progress achieved

Talking about the current situation and the trade "war" that seems to be starting, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Friday that he was optimistic following the temporary suspension of high tariffs imposed by the United States on EU and explained that this offers an opportunity for negotiation and to find mutually beneficial solutions.
Marinakis underlined the strong Greek-US relations and the strategic projects that connect the two countries, stressing the importance of Greece as a bridge between the US and Europe. The government, he said, seeks to protect the country's progress in a period of risk, with high growth rates and new jobs, despite external crises. He said that the government will continue to implement policies that improve the lives of citizens, while actively participating in European decision-making, always paying attention to national interests.
More specificaly, he stated: "Our goal is firm. In a period when risks are both unpredictable and significant, it is crucial to protect the progress that has been achieved."
He also referred to the strategies aiming to increase investments. This process will be coordinated by the Government Council for Economic Policy, with the aim of achieving the goals and translating these into more investments.
Marinakis emphasised to the ANA-MPA the importance of growth for the Greek economy and explained that the government's strategy aims to maintain the upward trajectory of the economy, focusing on attracting large companies with the aim of creating more jobs. Strengthening competitiveness and autonomy in strategic sectors are also priorities, so that the economy can withstand international turmoil.
In addition, the Greek government is focusing on enhancing research and innovation, establishing the connection of universities with the market through synergies in sectors with competitive advantages, he said.
Finally, Marinakis stated that the government has undertaken initiatives to promote digital skills in Greek society, focusing on the use of Artificial Intelligence to improve Public Administration. This includes the digitalisation and automation of operations and processes that will improve service to citizens and businesses.
