FinMin Pierrakakis to Warsaw for informal Eurogroup, ECOFIN meetings Fri-Sat

National Economy & Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis will travel to Warsaw to attend the informal Eurogroup and ECOFIN councils meetings on Friday and Saturday.

The European finance ministers will focus on the decisions of the US government to impose tariffs, and the funding of European defense.

On Friday morning, Pierrakakis will attend the Eurogroup meeting. Its agenda includes repercussions of international economic developments on interest rates and inflation, and the coordination of policies among eurozone member states. A working lunch will follow, where ministers will discuss the macroeconomic repercussions of US tariffs at length.

The first meeting of ECOFIN (Economic and Financial Affairs Council) will take place on Friday afternoon, and will include governors of central banks of the EU member states. The agenda will focus on the competitiveness of European fiscal markets and the contribution of EU capital markets to promoting investments.

On Saturday, Pierrakakis will attend the second ECOFIN meeting, whose main topic is security and funding of defense in order to strengthen Europe's defense capabilities.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the minister will meet with countries' counterparts and European officials.
