DEF X-Kontogeorgis stresses importance of integrating regional perspective into the combination and implementation of policies

"A crucial factor for the country's course is how we integrate the regional perspective into the combination and implementation of our policies. This will determine the balance of resources that will be allocated in the coming period to cohesion and competitiveness," Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Thanasis Kontogeorgis, stressed on Wednesday during his intervention at the Delphi Economic Forum X.
Kontogeorgis stressed that the above remark is related to the debate on Europe's strategic autonomy, that is, on "how Europe will become stronger in terms of energy and defense."
He also said that the government, within the framework of the new multi-annual financial framework, will seek to set priorities, emphasizing that for our country, "what will determine our future will be infrastructure, water, the climate crisis, the demographic challenge, border management, and the labour market."
Among other things, the deputy minister spoke about the effort to "fairly distribute the dividend of development in the regions," noting that there are inter-regional inequalities that must be addressed.
He added that an effort is being made to concentrate financial tools, stressing that planning cannot be carried out by Athens for each region, but should be done in cooperation with the regions.
"Prefecture by prefecture, we are discussing with everyone, the local government and the productive entities, using the financial tools and opportunities provided, targeting each region," said the deputy minister.
