Kefalogianni to ANA-MPA: Dynamic start for Greek tourism in 2025

The year has started dynamically for Greek tourism, after two consecutive record years, with positive messages from the tourism market, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) released on Sunday.
Specifically, a significant increase over 10% was recorded in both travel traffic and in receipts in January compared to the corresponding month last year. "This is indicative of the upward trend of tourism during the winter months as well," she emphasized.
The ministry’s central goal, according to Kefalogianni, is the qualitative development of Greek tourism. As she noted: "We are working on the spatial and temporal expansion of tourism activity in our country, the promotion of lesser-known destinations, the enrichment of the tourism products, while ensuring the protection and promotion of our natural and cultural wealth. In this way, we can achieve multiple, long-term benefits from tourism for the national economy and local communities."
The minister made special reference to the island of Santorini, emphasizing that "it is returning to normality and remains a hospitable destination, ready for another dynamic tourist year."
As she pointed out, the Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Organization are actively supporting the effort to maintain the attractiveness of Santorini as a top tourist destination. In this context, all the digital tools of the Visit Greece platform will be utilized, while the special promotion and visibility plan for the island in collaboration with the South Aegean Region is in the finalization phase.
