Tsiaras: Greece's three priorities in order to address Trump's tariffs on agricultural exports

Greece's actions will be based on three directions, in order to limit the adverse effects on exports of primary sector products to the US, following the announcement of tariffs by US President Donald Trump, Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras said in an interview with "Action24 TV."
First, redefinition of the EU's policy in the primary sector. This choice is imperative, since, as he pointed out, the EU is the largest exporter of agricultural products to the US.
Secondly, our country should attempt to exempt from the measure of increasing tariffs, unique products that do not affect US agricultural production, such as edible olives, feta cheese, etc.
Thirdly, the EU should take decisions to support agricultural products produced by its member states, as it is unthinkable for European products to be exported and for consumers in the Union countries to be forced to buy the same products from third countries, at cheaper prices. In this specific case, the competent minister noted, financial support for EU products should be examined to make them more accessible to European consumers.
