Dimas to ANA-MPA: We must leave to future generations a better country and not the debts we inherited

"In the transport sector, the main concern is the safety in all means," Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) released on Saturday.
He explained that special emphasis is placed on the fastest possible, full restoration of the Athens-Thessaloniki railway line, after the Daniel floods, the new institutional framework for the operation of the railways so that the private economic criteria of modern administration prevail, the implementation of the new Road Traffic Code and the new institutional framework for the operation of civil aviation."
Regarding the tragic train accident in Tempi, he said that "regardless of party origin or ideology, I believe that we all want the truth to shine about the Tempi tragedy. The expert opinions concluded that there was no undeclared cargo on the train.
Therefore, when this truth is revealed, we must decide whether we are with the evidence and scientific knowledge or whether we are with the conspiracy theories, which only cause more disruption in a case that is painful."
Referring to the infrastructure projects that are being promoted, he said that "Greece's infrastructure map is constantly being enriched with new projects and efforts made by the government over the last years and today, many emblematic projects are at a mature stage."

He also referred to Greece's economic performance: "We have achieved the fastest public debt reduction ever recorded in the history of the Eurozone and the value of this performance is that we must leave to future generations a better country and not the debts we inherited."
