President Tasoulas receives Commissioner Tzitzikostas
The President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine Tassoulas, received on Friday at the Presidential Mansion the Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism of the European Commission Apostolos Tzitzikostas, whom he congratulated for assuming the portfolio, which, as he said, concerns the interconnectivity of Greece.
"Greece is actively participating in the EU's new era of pursuing strategic autonomy, where security is a priority. It is crucial for Greece to be at the centre of decision-making in an international landscape where both geopolitics and geo-economics are being disrupted."
Tassoulas said that all citizens must prioritise safe, sustainable transport and praised Tzitzikostas' plan to keep Parliament's relevant committees updated on his portfolio's issues.
Tzitzikostas, for his part, congratulated Tassoulas on his assumption of office. "With the new President of the Republic, as well as the new President of the Parliament, we also share a common path in local authorities, which is closer to the citizens and their real problems. Besides, my portfolio in the European Commission is also directly linked to the need to improve the daily life of citizens and to policies that directly affect Greece in the fields of infrastructure, transport, shipping and tourism," Tzitzikostas said, stressing that he will also regularly inform him about developments in Europe.
