GNTO and Britain's JET2 forge strategic cooperation for sustainability in Greek tourism

Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Secretary General Andreas Fiorentinos met on Thursday with officers of JET2, the largest tour operator in the United Kindgom, in the framework of GNTO's strategic cooperation with JET2 and JET2 HOLIDAYS, which focuses on sustainable tourism development and the strengthening of the tourism experience.

JET2 was represented by Janice Mather and Jacob Bramley, and they discussed developments of the current tourism period and the addition of Samos island as a new Greek destination in JET2's program for 2026. Samos as destination would be served by direct flights from Manchester and London's Stansted airport from May to October 2026.

The two sides also reviewed the long-term planning on Greece's sustainable tourism development and upgrade of the tourism experience. Both sides underlined the importance of cooperation in order to expand tourist flows throughout the year, and the flows' dissemination to less developed regions of the country through the promotion of new and less-well-known Greek destinations with the British public.

GNTO's and JET2's cooperation focuses on joint actions and joint publicity programs that align with GNTO's strategic priorities for sustainable tourism development. Officials of both sides also discussed the deepening of this cooperation, in order to create new tourism products for the summer season and to train the JET2 network of affiliates in new experiences and tourism products of Greece.

Finally, they agreed to design a road map for a balanced extension of JET2's activity in Greece.
