Citizen Protection Min Chrisochoidis meets with Finnish Interior Min Rantanen
Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis met with Finnish Interior Minister Mari Rantanen on Thursday.
The discussion focused on border security and the strengthening of cooperation to ensure more effective surveillance of national borders, which are also EU borders.
Rantanen underlined that "we face common challenges", while Chrisochoidis referred to all the measures taken by Greece in the wider Evros region, where migration flows are almost zero.
Chrisochoidis and Rantanen referred to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in areas such as the fight against international crime, internal security, terrorism, domestic violence and juvenile delinquency.
In addition, Rantanen referred in detail to the specificities of border management in her country.
Particular reference was made during the meeting to the role of FRONTEX in the more effective management of migration flows and border management in cooperation with the national competent services.
