PM Mitsotakis visits Akrini village in Kozani, talks with residents of 'green' transition

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis paid a visit to Akrini village in Kozani, western Macedonia, which the government plans to transform into a 'green' model settlement.

Mitsotakis spoke with residents and remembered that he had paid a visit to the village in 2008, as president of the Greek Parliament's Special Permanent Committee on Environmental Protection.

During the visit, the prime minister met with residents taking certification classes for skills and careers at the Akrini center, which helps the local population to find jobs after the area's green and digital transformation.

Projects to transform the settlement into a green one include a solar energy unit (35 MW), a new rural road (10.6 km) to improve access to the village, photovoltaics placed on roofs, a water and sewage system, and planting of trees, which the PM discussed with residents.

He added that the new investment plan by the Public Power Corporation for the greater area of western Macedonia will give a great development boost to the area and create job openings benefiting the local community.
