Hardalias highlights importance of cohesion policy for European integration in Brussels

The Governor of Attica and Executive Vice President (EVP) of the EPP Group in the European Committee of the Regions Nikos Hardalias, at the plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions held in Brussels, referred to the importance of cohesion policy for the European project.

Hardalias spoke in the presence of European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms and Vice-President of the European Union Raffaele Fitto, who presented the EU's reprogramming and proposals for the reform of regional development funds in Europe's regions.
Referring to the importance of social convergence, Hardalias said that "it encapsulates the values of solidarity and balanced development that are the driving force behind every new step towards European integration".

He further supported the proposal to strengthen competitiveness, carbonisation, defence and security, as well as to address issues such as affordable housing, water resilience and energy transition.
