Theodorikakos: We support entrepreneurship by reducing taxes, contributions

"We support entrepreneurship by reducing taxes, contributions and the cost of business premises," emphasised Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos, at the presentation of the Annual Greek Trade Report 2024 of the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE). He also made a particular reference to the 3% ceiling set by the development ministry on the annual increase in commercial leases.
Theodorikakos underlined that the significant changes in the global economy create new challenges for trade, which is the biggest employer in the country with over 230,000 enterprises and approximately 700,000 employees.
"The answer to these challenges is the new production model that we are shaping, focusing on manufacturing, industry and strengthening the competitiveness of the Greek economy as a whole," noted the minister.
"Increasing the competitiveness of Greek businesses in the context of the productive transformation of our economy leads to higher incomes, strengthening the purchasing power of citizens and essentially supporting Greek trade," he added.
In this context, he highlighted the importance of the new development law, which provides for financial incentives totaling 900 million euros, with an emphasis on border and economically weaker regions. "Our goal is to create new, sustainable jobs throughout the country, thus strengthening the income and purchasing power of citizens," he said.
The minister pointed out that "strong production means strong trade, stable jobs and a better future for the new generation. The development of industry and manufacturing is the best security for our homeland, as every factory in the border areas means that thousands of young people will create their future there."
