Intense rainfall in Chalkidiki, Veria leads to problems in rural road network

Continuing and intense rainfall in the last few days has created problems in traffic circulation at rural roads of Central Macedonia.
On Tuesday, a large body of water collected in the center of Olympiada in the Chalkidiki peninsula. Another five points of the rural network have been shut as of March 29: a section of Olynthos Road, and the Roads of Ormylia-Vrasna, Megali Panagia-Gomati, Aghios Pavlos-Nea Gonia, and the coastal Gerakini-Kalivia.
In Imathia prefecture, southwest of Thessaloniki, local streams have overflowed, disrupting traffic between Veria-Lazochori and Makrochori-Tagarochori.
In Thessaloniki itself, the basement of the 2nd Special Vocational School in the area of the International Airport was flooded. The Fire Department was pumping the water out, and there were no other problems in the building.
