Risk Assessment Committee convenes over severe weather forecast for Tuesday

The Risk Assessment Committee met on Tuesday due to the severe weather phenomena that have been affecting various parts of the country since Monday.
The Committee was convened by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Nikos Papaefstathiou, following a proposal by the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Yiannis Kefalogiannis, to discuss the updated Emergency Report of Hazardous Weather Phenomena (EDEKF) released by the Hellenic Meteorological Service.
According to the Committee's scientists, heavy rain and storms (accompanied by strong winds and local hail) are expected at intervals until noon on Wednesday in areas of the Aegean.
As stated in a relevant announcement, special attention should be paid to Crete and the Dodecanese islands, where the weather phenomena are forecast to be most intense.
A message from the emergency number 112 has already been issued for the areas of Crete, the Dodecanese, Chios, Samos and Ikaria, where the phenomena will be particularly intense until Wednesday morning.
The Civil Protection Operations Center has communicated with local authorities, security forces, so that all services involved are fully ready to respond to problems that may arise.
