Unemployment falls to 8.6% in February, ELSTAT says

Greece's unemployment rate decreased to 8.6% in February this year, compared to 11.5% in February 2024 and the revised upward rate of 9.1% in January 2025, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority ELSTAT.
The number of unemployed persons was 404,581, recording a decrease of 144,210 people compared to February 2024 (26.3%) and 22,906 people compared to January 2025 (5.4%).
The unemployment rate for women dropped to 11.3% from 13.9% in February last year and for men it dropped to 6.4% from 9.5%.
By age group, the unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group fell to 16.8% from 28.9% in February 2024 and in the 25-74 age group it fell to 8.1% from 10.4%.
According to ELSTAT, the number of employed persons amounted to 4,311,625, recording an increase of 72,436 persons compared to February 2024 (1.7%) and an increase of 36,927 persons compared to January 2025 (0.9%).
