Train immobilized in tunnel was due to van violation, RR managers say

The train that was immobilized for nearly half an hour in the Aghii Anargyroi tunnel was due to a short-circuit after a van violated the signal to stop and broke one of the bars, breaking the power circuit, the Hellenic Railways Organization and Hellenic Train said on Monday.

According to their statement, the interruption affected a great section of the urban railroad of Attica (proastiakos). The affected train was pulled to a station where passengers got off. The tunnel provides light and ventilation, while the train was being observed by cameras at the Center for Tunnel Control at SKA, the Acharnes Railroad Center, the managers said.

Hellenic Train also said that the circuit break between Athens and Piraeus is expected to create delays in some urban railroad schedules. Schedules related to the Piraeus-Kiato lines (1308, 1313, 1310, 1315) are being served by buses.
