Marinakis: Our concern is that the surplus of the economy's performance be returned to the citizens

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis referred to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' visit to Israel at the start of his briefing to the press on Monday. The government spokesperson referred to the Prime Minister's statements and messages in the meetings he had with the President and Prime Minister of Israel.
Marinakis announced that on Tuesday, the Prime Minister will visit the Ministry of Labour and on Wednesday he will brief the parliament on armaments programmes.
He also spoke of the battle against tax evasion and referred to the increases that have been given to the public sector and the taregeted pay increases, such as those for healthcare personnel and personnel in uniform, including the armed forces.
"Through the economic policy implemented by the government, more than 500,000 new jobs were created and tax evasion was effectively addressed, for the first time in decades, resulting in an increase in State revenues, without a single tax rate having increased. Our concern is that the surplus of the economy's performance be returned, within the limits of the fiscal space, to the citizens, either through tax and social security contribution reductions - we recall that we have reduced 73 direct and indirect taxes since 2019 - or through direct actions that strengthen all citizens.
Marinakis also referred to Defence Minister Nikos Dendias' announcements regarding salary increases in the Armed Forces, noting that 60% of the increase was derived from cost savings at the Ministry of Defence.
The government spokesperson also spoke about the communication between Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou and the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior and President of the National Energy Dominance Council of the USA, Doug Burgum regarding Chevron's interest in searching for oil and gas south of Crete.
He also referred to the rebrain Greece action in London and the obligation of landowners, as of Tuesday, April 1, to clear their properties of excess vegetation, with consequences for those who do not take the necessary action.
