The work of the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance Central Committee concluded late on Saturday evening.

Earlier, the Central Committee rejected the proposal tabled by Pavlos Polakis and Nikos Pappas that the party's organizing committee for the congress elect a new secretary for the Organizational Office. The Central Committee members overwhelmingly voted to allow the Political Secretariat to decide on the membership of the Office, which was a proposal supported by SYRIZA leader Sokratis Famellos.

In his address to the Central Committee meeting on Saturday, Famellos had levelled a strong criticism at Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and said that it was urgent to aact, as "the restart and rebirth of our party is now more necessary than ever."
