This is the first year when wages of civil servants rise along with the raise in minimum wage, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said on Thursday, in a post on Tik Tok.

Hatzidakis was commenting on the announcement by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday for the raise that will be implemented as of April 1.

"Yes, neither the workers in the private sector nor those in the public one became richer," he said. "But it is certain that the government has tried to exhaust all options in terms of what businesses can handle in the private sector, as well as in terms of what the state budget can handle in the public sector."
