Turkish Consul-General Gedic pays visit to Grevena Mayor Tataridis

Mayor of Grevena Kyriakos Tataridis was visited on Wednesday by Turkiye's Consul-General in Thessaloniki Sherkan Gedic.
During their meeting they discussed issues related to tourism, as well as the refugees who arrived in Grevena, in western Macedonia, during the exchange of populations in 1923 and the Muslim residents who left for Turkiye, all of whom have been travelling in recent years to learn about the areas their ancestors were born in.
Consul-General Gedic thanked the mayor for the warm welcome and said "the visit is carried out in the framework of a wider effort by the consulate to boost relations and promote cooperation in various sectors, as northern Greece falls under his responsibilities."
Grevena Mayor Tataridis noted that "in recent years there is great mobility among Christian and Muslim populations exchanged in 1923, which creates prerequisites for developing a tourism niche that benefits both peoples. We agreed, therefore, to jointly seek ways of cooperating in this direction, respecting at all times each one's history and values."
Attending the discussion held in a cordial climate were Deputy Mayors Yiannis Evangelopoulos and Sofoklis Kypritzis.
