Tax relief decisions in the summer - Announcements in September

The government is looking for fiscal "air" in order to be able to proceed with a new reduction in taxation, as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has repeatedly stated. In fact, last Monday, during his visit to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, where he collaborated with the new Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the political leadership, he stated that the benefits of the fight against tax evasion will soon be perceived by citizens, which triggered scenarios for decision-making during the summer and announcements in September.
As shown by the budget execution data for the first two months of 2025, the tax revenue surplus is over 0.5 billion, which raises expectations that this year, the economy will have permanent and stable additional revenue from the policy against tax evasion and the higher growth rates. As a result the government will be in a position to proceed with permanent tax relief measures for citizens.
Tha landscape will be more clear in the summer, when data from the performance of tourism will also be incorporated. The government has already pointed to a fiscal relief in 2025 through the reduction of direct taxes, giving particular emphasis to the middle class.
