'Rebrain Greece' event planned in London on March 29, Labor Min Kerameus says

A new event for the Rebrain Greece program, encouraging Greeks working abroad to return to their country, will be held in London on March 29, Labor & Social Security Minister Niki Kerameus said in an interview on Skai TV on Thursday.

Kerameus noted that "there is a very strong Greek element in England," while she also cited Eurostat data to say that of the nearly 680,000 who have left Greece, 350,000 have already returned. "We are not becoming complacent. We are constantly trying to highlight professional opportunities. The final decision belongs to Greek citizens living abroad," she said.

She also noted that the cabinet reshuffle had already shown results in terms of the unemployment rate, which fell to 8.7%, lower than the rate in Spain, Sweden, and Finland, and the lowest of the last 17 years.

Asked about the raise seen in salaries, the Labor minister noted that "with the drop in unemployment there is fierce competition, that is why wages have increased." She said that the cabinet would discuss raising the minimum wage when it meets again in the coming week.
