Bank of Greece: Increased budget surplus in January - February 2025

In January-February 2025, the central government cash balance recorded a surplus of 836 million euros, compared to a surplus of 346 million euros in the same period of 2024.
In the same period, according to data from the Bank of Greece (BoG), the primary surplus stood at 2.1 billion euros.
During this period, ordinary budget revenue amounted to 11,636 million euros, compared to 10,696 million euros in the corresponding period of last year. Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to 10,781 million euros, from 9,552 million euros in January-February 2024.
The interest expense paid by the state budget to service the Public Debt recorded a marginal increase of 2 billion euros.
