Municipality of Athens services on alert due to low temperatures

The Municipality of Athens is placing its services on alert as of today at noon (14:00), with the aim of protecting vulnerable citizens from the low temperatures already occurring in the city.
Specifically, 'Street Work' teams will be operating on a 24-hour basis, handing out hot drinks, food, blankets and clothes to the homeless, informing and helping those in difficulty to go to the Dormitory of the Multipurpose Homeless Centre, which operates at all hours to provide accommodation, food and attend to the needs of the homeless (tel: 210- 5246515/6 ext. 0).
The call centre of the Reception and Solidarity Centre of the Municipality of Athens (210-5246515/6 ext. 4) will remain open on a 24-hour basis for citizen reports of homeless persons in need of help. The municipality calls on citizens, if they find that someone who is living on the streets, to report that person's location to the above number, providing as much information as possible to assist Street Work teams in locating and helping to protect that person from the bad weather.
Reports of homeless people can also be made to the four-digit contact number of the Municipality of Athens 1595 (charges vary depending on the provider).
