The government and the Bank of Greece (BoG) share a common understanding about the future of the Greek economy, according to National Economy and Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Bank of Greece governor Yannis Stournaras, following their meeting on Tuesday.
As the minister emphasised, fiscal stability is a historic achievement of the Greek economy and he meaningfully added, "never again". At the same time, he emphasised that "on fiscal stability we build and are building all the achievements that society requires and which we prioritise politically and in terms of values".
On his part, Stournaras noted that economic policy should be based on the three pillars of fiscal responsibility, financial stability and reforms, concluding: "I have an obligation to help and as long as there is a common understanding, the sky is the limit."
