Papastavrou: We need to act immediately and collectively so that Europe can evolve into a unified, competitive, fair, resilient Energy Union

"Our primary goal is low energy prices, a necessary condition for the quality of life of European citizens, especially the most vulnerable, as well as for the competitiveness of European industry", underlined Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, during his arrival at the EU Energy Ministers Council meeting which is taking place in Brussels on Monday.
"Today, amidst significant geopolitical challenges, we are called upon to make critical decisions about Europe's energy present and future," Papastavrou said, adding that "our primary goal is low energy prices, a necessary condition for the quality of life of European citizens, especially the most vulnerable ones, as well as for the competitiveness of European industry".
The minister also welcomed EU's Action Plan for Affordable Energy Prices announced by the European Commission as it includes many of our country's proposals which highlighted Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his letter to the President of the Commission.
"We are called upon to take important decisions. A critical element for the new energy policy must be the single market, without barriers and distortions, as well as the support and financing of the interconnection of EU regions, such as Greece and Cyprus, which has broader geostrategic importance. We need to act immediately and collectively so that the Europe can quickly evolve into a unified, competitive, and at the same time fair and resilient Energy Union. This is the agenda we promote", Papastavrou concluded.
