PM Mitsotakis: Citizens will soon feel the benefits of implementing the policy against tax evasion

Citizens will soon feel the successful implementation of the policy against tax evasion, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said among other things, during his visit to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and his meeting with Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis as well as members of the ministry's political leadership on Monday.
The Prime Minister focused particularly on tackling tax evasion, which ensures permanent and sustainable revenues, enabling an increase in public investments and a reduction in taxes. He also noted that he recognises the difficulties that citizens are going through, but said that part of the success will return to society, without, however, calling into question fiscal stability.
Mitsotakis also stated that "we will be judged in 2.5 years by the increase in nominal wages and the reduction in taxes."
He also referred to the upgrade of the Greek economy by Moody's noting that this is a national success that certifies the country's progress in a complex environment with geopolitical challenges. At the same time, the premier stressed that the main priorities remain, which are none other than reducing unemployment, creating more and better-paid jobs, changing the production model and, of course, further reducing taxes.
He also placed particular emphasis on continuing the policy that, to date, has led to rapid utilisation of resources from the Recovery Fund.
On his part, Pierrakakis underlined that there are international challenges and national goals, such as combating tax evasion using advanced technological tools. He stressed that they know how to achieve this, through the implementation of new instruments and a dense legislative work that has been planned and will continue at the same pace. "The bar has been set high and we will build on what has been created," he stressed.
