Thirteen Turkish nationals appear in court over Glyfada murders, weapons possession charges

Thirteen Turkish nationals arrested by the police during an operation to track down those responsible for the murder of two Turks in the Athens suburb of Glyfada in December 2024 appeared in court on Sunday.
Four of the suspects arrested had outstanding warrants issued against them for the deadly attack in Glyfada.
The other nine suspects under arrest were led before a public prosecutor, who charged them with criminal-level weapons possession, as well as misdemeanour weapons possession, forgery, dangerous driving that could endanger human life and possession of narcotics.
All the suspects were also led before an examining magistrate and given dates to present their testimony regarding the charges against them. There are currently two case files, with the main one relating to the murders, but in the course of time this is expected to be connected with the lesser weapons possession charges, as evidence uncovered by the investigation points to the perpetrators of the murder receiving assistance from the other nine suspects.
